Guided Tours of St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey

Following the success of the guided tours of the church which were conducted on September 21st as part of the Bermondsey Street Festival, we are encouraged to propose regular tours on Saturdays, roughly on a 4-6 weekly basis The first was on Saturday Oct 31st (as featured on BBC Radio London on Sunday October 25th), followed by some short tours on Dec 4th as part of the Bermondsey Street Shopping Event, and then more recently on January 30th and April 10th.  These tours have all been well attended, and we are pleased that so many people are interested to learn more about the church.

The next tours will be probably be on a Saturday in June, but the exact date is yet to be decided.  There will be main tours of the ground and first floors which last 60-75 minutes for a suggested donation of £5 per person.  The tours are available to all, although there is no disabled access upstairs.  Photography is permitted, and no booking is required for the main tour - just turn up!

There is also the possibility (at the discretion of the guide) of a 30 minute tour around the higher tower and the roof space, for an additional donation.  Participants must be suitably attired and capable of climbing a large step ladder as well as clambering over beams whilst minding their own head (safety helmet provided). Numbers for the tower/roof are strictly limited to three at a time due to the many inherent dangers of ladders, beams and plaster ceilings, so you are advised to contact us in advance to confirm if you wish to do this - first come, first served!

We can also discuss specific arrangements for groups on other dates, subject to availability of a guide.
