Welcome to the homepage of the Parish Church of St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, London.

Our main weekly service is Holy Communion, held at 1030 - 1200 on Sunday mornings.  See Services and Events this month for full details of all services (and don't worry if you are a few minutes late!).  Also, we run Alpha and START courses for those interested in becoming a Christian and/or learning more about their faith - call the Rector on 020 7357 0984 for more details of the next Alpha course beginning in September 2008.

In August, we are running Capital Kids Fun Days on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th (led by a team from the London City Mission).  These are open to all children aged 5-11, starting at 10.30am and continuing until 3.30pm.  This will be a great time for all the children when they can enjoy themselves with all sorts of activities including games, singing, painting and generally having a great time together.  Also there will be a barbecue on the evening of Saturday 8th at 6.00pm, when all parents, friends, local residents and anyone else are invited.

St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey is a parish of the Church of England, in the Deanery of Bermondsey in the Anglican Diocese of Southwark.  The church building is essentially late 17th Century, and is Grade II* listed.

The parish extends north to the River Thames and includes the south tower of Tower Bridge, as well as the London Authority building and part of London Bridge Station. It includes the former parishes of St Olave Tooley Street, St Luke Grange Road and St John Horselydown.

Please use the contents list on the left to find what you want.  If this page has no banner and contents, please click here to go to the complete Homepage.

This website was launched in October 2004, and is still being developed as time permits, so please return and find out more about the church, its people and its history.  Better still, come and visit us on a Sunday morning - and be ready to stay for a coffee and a chat afterwards.

Note that the church is not "St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey".  Although the notice engraved by the front door in the 19th C says "Magdalene", it was "Magdalen" in the 13th C and that is our practice now as well.  Unfortunately, given the workings of the internet search engines, many people would miss us unless this is mentioned!
