The Churchwardens' Pew
is
of uncertain date. It was probably formerly used to conduct parish
business in the times when the churchwarden was a person of some importance in
the community, in settling minor disputes.
The photo on the right is a detail of the intricate oak carving on the panels. It is thought that the pew was originally in a corner as the carving on the third side is of a distinctly inferior quality.
We would love to have more information on this, if there are any experts out there!
